PMDG Jetstream JS4100

A Turbo-prop regional airliner reborn.

PMDG JETSTREAM JS4100 for FSX

The Jetstream 41 turboprop regional airliner, manufactured by BAe Systems, is a major development of the Jetstream 31/32 regional airliner family, which entered service in 1982. The Jetstream 31 and the Jetstream 32EP (enhanced performance) are 19-seat turboprop airliners. The stretched Jetstream 41 development was announced in 1989, the first flight took place in 1991 and the aircraft entered service in 1992. The goal was to compete directly with 30-seat aircraft like the Embraer Brasilia, Dornier 328 and Saab 340.

The Jetstream 41's stretched fuselage is 16 ft (4.88 m) longer, consisting of an 8 foot (2.5 m) plug forward of the wing and a 7 ft 9 in (2.36 m) plug to the rear; the fuselage design was completely new and did not contain any parts of the old fuselage. The new design required an increased wing span, which also included reworked ailerons and flaps. The wing was mounted below the fuselage in order for it not to carry through the cabin aisle, which also led to larger wing root fairings which increased baggage capacity.

The Jetstream 41 is fitted with Garrett TPE331-14 engines (now owned by Honeywell), and delivered 1,500 shp (1,120 kW) and later 1,650 shp (1,232 KW). They were mounted in new nacelles which increased ground clearance. The flightdeck was equipped with a modern EFIS setup, as well as a new windscreen arrangement. The J41 was the first turbo-prop certified to both JAR25 and FAR25 standards.

The J41 flew for the first time on 25 September 1991 and was certified on 23 November 1992. In January 1996, the J41 became part of the Aero International (Regional) (AI(R)), a marketing consortium consisting of ATR, Aerospatiale (of France), Alenia (of Italy), and British Aerospace.

Over 90 Jetstream 41 aircraft are operational worldwide in both 29/30 seat commuter and 14-seat corporate shuttle configurations.

An accurate, detailed simulation of the Jetstream 41 has been sorely missing from desktop flight simulation... Until Now!

After being in development for 9 months, PMDG's award winning development team is proud to release this faithfully reproduced aircraft! In traditional PMDG style, no effort was spared during this extensive development process and we are certain the J41 will quickly become your favorite regional turbo prop simulation!

FEATURES

External Model
The external model has been accurately modeled to the smallest details, and painted using high resolution photoreal textures. External objects can be shown/hidden using the Ramp Manager, adding to the realism and immersion - Baggage Cart, Ground Power Unit (GPU), Cones, Covers, Stanchion with rope, Baggage (in baggage compartments) and passengers (matches the in-cockpit load sheet). The animated parts on the J41 were carefully researched and faithfully reproduced to match their operation with the actual aircraft. The J41 sports realistically animated gear, gear doors, flaps, spoilers, oil cooler flaps, passenger and cargo doors, AOA indicators and flight deck crew.
Virtual Cockpit
Designed and animated using the same proprietary techniques developed for previous PMDG award-winning product lines, Virtual Cockpit users will truly enjoy the sensation of "being there" when flying this simulator from the fully interactive and animated 3D virtual cockpit. Stunning, high definition photoreal textures in the VC truly brings this cockpit to life, and makes the J41 look 100% authentic compared to its real world counterpart.
PMDG Operations Center
Includes the new PMDG Operation Center, a stand-alone application which manages livery downloads and installations, livery options settings, documentation, support and much more. The OC also supports the PMDG Jetstream 4100 and PMDG 737NGX. We will be updating this application frequently to add new features and functionality.
Flight Model
Unique advanced mathematical model of Garret turboprop engine including sophisticated features such as completely custom start up sequence, Automatic Power Reserve (APR) , Torque Temperature Limiting (TTL) and flight idle control. Fire and failure probability model (optional)
Systems
The J41's systems were reproduced to match the operation of those in the real aircraft, and include: Pressurization, Electrical, Fuel, Fire Protection, Hydraulics, and Ice Protection. Avionics include the following: AUTOPILOT (CAT 1) HONEYWELL PC-400, CLEARANCE DELIVERY UNIT HONEYWELL CD-850, COMMUNICATIONS CONTROL SYSTEM HONEYWELL SRZ-850, DIGITAL AIR DATA COMPUTERS HONEYWELL ADZ-800, DIGITAL FLIGHT DIRECTOR HONEYWELL FZ-450, DUAL ADF HONEYWELL SRZ-850, DUAL AHARS HONEYWELL AH-600, DUAL DME HONEYWELL DI-850, DUAL INTEGRATED NAV UNITS HONEYWELL RNZ-850, DUAL MODE S ATC TRANSPONDERS HONEYWELL RCZ-850, DUAL RADIO MANAGEMENT UNTIS HONEYWELL RM-850, DUAL VHF COMMS HONEYWELL SRZ-850, EFIS (FOUR TUBES) HONEYWELL EDZ-850, ELT NARCO ELT910, FMS HONEYWELL GNS/XLS, GPWS SUNDSTRAND MKVI, RADIO ALTIMETER HONEYWELL RT-300, STANDBY ALTIMETER SMITH INDUSTRIES 1611AM1, TCAS 1 BENDIX / KING CAS66, YAW DAMPER SYSTEM HONEYWELL SM-200.
Weather Radar
Included free as part of the SP1 update, the 777 is the first PMDG product to feature a working simulation of the Collins WXR-2100 weather radar. In conjunction with the Active Sky Next weather engine addon, the radar depicts actual precipitation returns (not clouds!) and gives you full control over tilt, gain and radar mode including turbulence and windshear detection.
Sounds
Realistic, Immersive Sound Set - To increase the level of realism, individual switches, knobs, as well as aural warning and caution sounds, were recorded from an actual J41 expressly for the purpose of providing realistic audio-tactile feedback. The sound set covers every sound you would expect to hear inside the J41 cockpit, as well as from the exterior view. Highly realistic effects of the relationship between condition levers, engine RPM and prop pitch creates an authentic J41 in-cockpit sound experience.
RAAS
Fully functional Runway Awareness and Advisory System which calls out runway names and other information.
Interactive Load Sheet
An interactive load sheet is displayed on the captain's side clipboard in the VC (it can be hidden when not in use). Pilots will be able to adjust fuel weight, passenger weight and cargo load for each flight, and the rest of the load sheet information will be automatically updated based on weights. Watch as adding passengers on the load sheet will add actual passengers to their corresponding seat on the external visual model!
Speed Cards
A speed card booklet (based on the actual speed cards used in the real aircraft) is located in the captain's side pocket next to the pedestal, and can be accessed by clicking on it. All operating weights are included.
Liveries
As is always the case at PMDG, numerous free add-on liveries are available for most real-world J41 operators.
Detailed Icing Model
Realistic icing effects accumulate on various parts of the aircraft depending on the current weather, as well as the ice protection system settings at the time.
Frame Rate Optimization
Use the PMDG J41 Optimization Manager to control numerous external model and VC variations, and to choose different panel configurations for frame rate optimization to improve performance even on relatively low end PCs.
